Railway workers on twentieth day of strike in Shahrud, Iran
On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, the Travers Railway workers in Shahrud, Iran continued their twentieth day of their strike in protest to the overdue wage payments and delayed insurances.
These workers have four months of wage payment delays and since the summer of 2017, they have not received their insurances.
It is noteworthy that, during the days of the strike by the Shahroud Travers Railway workers, not even one of the Iranian government’s officials responded to their follow-ups.
The workers have reached out to many of the authorities in the railway company, the governor, and the city council, but no one responded to them.
It should be noted that this area is the most impacted area of the country’s railways, and has not been operational in the maintenance sector for 3 weeks. The workers have announced that consequences of any unfortunate incident are the responsibility of government officials and agents.
